Activities

Wine Tasting  -  on your own
Check in with Ken & Susie for a map of all the wineries, and complimentary tasting coupons.  If you don't feel like driving you can start downtown with our winewalker map.

Wine Tasting Tours with Chauffer/Guide
It is fun to be able to taste the Wines of Napa and Sonoma without having to appoint a designated driver.  Guides like Bruce from Wine Country Safari and Don from Platypus Tours know the area, but most importantly they have a relationship with the winery.  They look for three things in the wineries they take you to; quality wines, nice atmosphere, fantastic people. For an intimate ride up the valley, a sedan or limo waits at your leisure with Justin of Elegant Wine Tours at the wheel.

Dining
The Napa Valley cuisine at our fine dining restaurants is among the best in the world.  Start with the freshest, sustainable farmed, eco friendly, organic ingredients, add in a top notch chef, place this mixture in the center of wine country, and volia.... a perfect pairing between wine and food.  All that is missing is you.

Sightseeing & Recreation
It is fun to get out and explore the countryside.  You might think about heading up to Safari West, a 400 acre wildlife sanctuary, or drop into Yountville and rent a bicycle at Napa Valley Bike Tours.  Take the Napa Valley Wine Train for a view of the valley as you enjoy lunch or dinner, but to get the rush of wind through your hair -ride in a 1947 Packard Convertible limousine.  A hike through time can be taken by heading out to Muir Woods on the coast.

Spas
Relaxation is the name of game in Napa.  Sip some wine, enjoy the food, and get to a spa.  The treatment options run rampant at Lavender Hills Spa in Calistoga.  Check out some of our discounted packages that include some of their spa treatments. We also have In-Room massages available in certain rooms.

Gourmet Sampling and Farmers Markets
Sampling all the goodies Napa Valley produces is the reason for your visit.  Wine- of course, Restaurant Cuisine-no question, fresh fruit...fresh cheese...fresh produce...breads...spices...and ice cream.  These are all things you can taste by heading to the Oxbow Public Market and the various Farmers Markets (Calistoga on Sat: May-Oct)(Napa on Tue and Sat: May-Nov)(St Helena on Fri: May-Oct) and the Chefs Market downtown (Thursday Nights 5-9: May-Jul)

Golf
There are four first rate golf courses in Napa.  The public Napa Golf Course in Kennedy Park, the Chardonnay Golf Club, Eagle Vines Golf Club and the Silverado Country Club.

 Nightlife
Eveyone asks, what is there to do in the evenings.  The answer, a lot.  For live Theatre, try Dreamweavers Theatre, Napa Valley Opera House, Silos Jazz Club, the Lincoln Theatre and the newest addition to Napa; the newly remodeled Uptown Theatre.  If you are in the mood to watch a movie the Century Theatres downtown have the latest films.  You can also check out the many art galleries scattered throughout the city.  Of course, don't forget the Cedar Gables Inn happy hour for our guests down in our Old English Tavern.  Great Napa Valley wines are served with fabulous cheeses and fresh fruit.  And being an upstanding Old English Tavern we serve beer as well.

Culinary Activities
The first culinary activity that comes to mind is the Cedar Gables Inn Cooking Classes.
Paired with outstanding wines from the best wine producing region in the world, the Cedar Gables Inn offers the ultimate Napa Culinary Experience:  Hands on cooking classes with top notch chefs from the area. Following the class you will enjoy the fruits of your labor by feasting on your creations and delicious wines in the Inn's elegant dining room
The classes are designed for food enthusiasts. The class size is small and intimate and they are designed for hands-on participation. The only requirements are a love for food, cooking and having fun. All class participants must book their accommodations directly by calling the Inn at 1-707-224-7969 or 1-800-309-7969 toll free.
The second culinary activity is eating at all the wonderful Napa Restaurants.

Ballooning and Air Sports
We love the quiet when floating around in a balloon at 2000 feet, the breathtaking views of vineyards stretching out, the mountains jutting up almost obstructing the blue water of the ocean.  The Balloons about the Valley team of pilots, ground crew, and hosts make this a memorable trip.  A little bit crazier is to fly high above Lake County in a glider or barnstorm in a vintage Bi-Plane with Crazy Creek Air Adventures.

Parks and Beaches
The Parks in the area range in size and complexity:  Boothe State Park, Kennedy Park, Napa Skate board park (talk about adventure), Robert Lewis Stevenson State Park and Skyline Wilderness Park. The City of Napa has a wonderful Map of 50 parks and recreation facilities.  A little further out is Lake Berryessa, holding 1.6 million acre feet of water it is one of the largest bodies of fresh water in California.  Along the 165 miles of shoreline there are many opportunities to experience a variety of wildlife and plants.   Further out still is Muir Woods, with its imposing Coast Redwoods, some 20 stories tall and as old as the Magna Carta.  About 2 miles away is the Muir Woods Beach, then up the coast is Stinson Beach.

The Arts and Museums
Dedicated to promoting the cultural and environmental heritage of the Napa Valley the Napa Valley Museum is a showcase.  To find out about the local art and Culture events check out the arts calendar.  There are many fine galleries like the Quent Cordair gallery on first street that show exquisite artwork from all over the world.

Shopping
Everybody loves to shop, and we have an abundance of shops to choose from.  The downtown Napa Mall -starting to surround itself with specialty shops like Betty's Girl Boutique on First St- be "that girl" in an amazing dress (Kim is fantastic) , Premium Outlets in Napa, the V-Marketplace in Yountville, and specialty shops in St Helena will keep you busy for quite a while.
