Clos Du Val winery and its 150 acres of estate vineyards reside in the heart of Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District. The first viticultural area in the United States to be approved based on the distinctiveness of its soils, the Stags Leap District is referred to as a “valley within a valley.” Only three miles long by one mile wide, the appellation’s unique climate and geography produce fruit with exceptional intensity and flavor. Famous for Cabernet Sauvignons that exhibit power and grace, the Stags Leap District first garnered attention for its wines in 1976 when Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars took first place with their Cabernet Sauvignon at the famous Paris Wine Tasting. At a rematch ten years later, the winner was yet another wine from the Stags Leap District: the 1972 Clos Du Val Cabernet Sauvignon!
